Patient Satisfaction After Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty

It has been reported that after revision total knee arthroplasty (rTKA) 85% of patients are satisfied and would have the procedure again, 8% are unsure, and 7% would not. The mean reported satisfaction on a numerical scale (1–10) is 8.17 (range 1–10), with 74% of patients scoring 8 or above, and 35% of patients scoring 10. In a study, individuals experiencing rTKA for the indication of unexplained pain had worse outcomes on patient-related outcome measures (PROMs) than those revised for aseptic loosening. Other authors found that at 5 years postoperatively 74.2% of patients were satisfied and that rTKA led to significantly improved PROMs with a low complication rate of 3.7%.
