A Fairy and A Woodcutter
摘要
This writing includes the result of doing philosophy with nearly five hundred teenagers using the fairy tale, “A Fairy and A Woodcutter.” I’ve listed the questions which children actually raised in this story and suggested philosophical themes related with them. The story opens with the woodcutter who lives with his aged mother stealing the fairy’s robe and marrying her. Not knowing about stealing, the fairy lives happily with him. One day, when she breaks down to tears, missing her home in heaven, the woodcutter returns her robe. Then she leaves the land with two kids. He follows her and they live together, but he misses his mother on the land. With the help of the fairy, he meets his mother, but can’t return to heaven. Missing his family in heaven, he turns into a rooster. Hope you have a great time doing philosophy with this story, as we did.
