Introduction

Corrosion is a serious issue as it will exert both economic and ecologic damages. Management of corrosion is generally considered via mainly hard-core technological means such as cathodic protection, coating, administration of corrosion inhibitors/biocides as well as measures such as material selection and design modification. The crucial role of modelling corrosion in dealing with present and future states of this processes in the “health” of assets and equipment is not fully recognised or in the way it deserves. Corrosion is a Green process in nature, and also it is possible to use mathematics to make models that are to be applied in order to enable asset owners and operators apply more efficient and more effective corrosion treatment and corrosion monitoring. In this chapter, a general consideration about modelling features of corrosion is given. It is proven that contrary to what some may think, not only is corrosion a subject open to be modelled, but also it has the advantage of being formed into commercial corrosion prediction models and softwares.
