Evaluation of the Benefit of Artificial Intelligence for the Development of Microeconomics Competencies

The objective of the research is to quantitatively and qualitatively determine the academic benefit obtained by students of the Open and Distance Learning Modality and the Presential Modality of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, enrolled in the subject of principles of microeconomics during seven consecutive academic periods and who participated in the university connectivity project to the virtual learning environment. In order to fulfill the objective, the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) technique was applied, maintaining the control groups according to the results obtained. It was possible to determine that there are statistically significant differences in the academic performance of the students to whom the technique was applied and the control groups, but this does not allow us to conclude that there is an important qualitative change in terms of academic performance since the absolute value of the differences in average is not significant.
