Technological Traps and Governance Strategies in the Digital Transformation of Education

The digital transformation of education has become a common goal in educational reforms worldwide. The ultimate purpose of educational digitization is to promote human development. However, this process is hindered by technological traps, and calls for corresponding governance strategies. This paper tries to establish a simple model incorporating the traps and governance strategies by investigating the case of a university F. The findings show that technologies traps mainly consist of technological biases, a detachment from digital competency, and an inclination towards “entertainment”. In order to overcome these traps and enhance the efficacy of digital transformation in education, it is imperative to integrate rational tools and values, empower teachers with digital skills, and create new educational forms.
