Motion and Energy

Energy as a measure of motion is presented and discussed in its historical context. The two basic forms—kinetic and potential energy—and their mutual conversion are also recapitulated. Thermal motion is also mentioned as the related energy transfer between bodies. The sign convention for energy transfer into or out of a body is given.
