Legal Concept of Shipowner Under the MLC

This chapter aims to describe the relations between the legal term “shipowner” and its concept by presenting a linguistic analysis of the term “shipowner” as defined by the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) and determined by the legislative intention of the MLC drafters in respect of the term in the light of the object and purpose of the MLC.
