The Research on the Multi-stage Influence Mechanism of New User Behavior During the Implementation of Digital Transformation Systems

Leveraging insights from Adaptive Structuration Theory and Structural Hole Theory, this study elaborates on the relationship between task diversity and system complexity, and new user behavior across different implementation phases of digital transformation in manufacturing enterprises. This study elaborates on the relationship between task diversity and system complexity, and new user behavior across different implementation phases of digital transformation in manufacturing enterprises. It particularly examines the moderating effect of structural holes in various stages on the relationship between task diversity, system complexity, and new user behavior. The analysis is based on 1,370,389 usage log data collected over six years from a typical domestic manufacturing enterprise undergoing digital transformation. The findings indicate that in the initial rapid response phase, high task diversity and system complexity inhibit new user behavior, with task network structural holes intensifying this negative impact. In the early stable adjustment phase, increased task diversity shifts to facilitate new user behavior, while high system complexity continues to restrain user usage. In the later stages, high task diversity positively affects new user behavior, with task network structural holes playing a positive moderating role, and the adverse effect of high system complexity on new user usage diminishes.
