This chapter specifically focuses on the needs of deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) learners, across modalities and settings, in the science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) classroom. The chapter begins by defining the fields and domains of STEAM education with a historical context. Secondly, it contextualizes STEAM education for deaf learners while exploring the unique considerations for STEAM education deaf learners. Specific attention is dedicated to the role of co-teaching to meet both content and deafness expertise. A broad range of suggestions drawing from field experts and colleagues from other fields are embedded to begin dialogue in methods for meeting both individual learning needs and content demands. Finally the chapter provides resources for teachers of the deaf (TOD), language access providers (e.g., interpreters, facilitators, transliterators), and STEAM teachers who serve DHH students.
