摘要

This chapter begins with an introduction to the theory of NMR, including the processes of signal generation, decay, and detection. It continues by describing common NMR measurement methods (known as pulse sequences) and the resulting precision (as quantified by the signal-to-noise ratio). Finally, it discusses the use of magnetic field gradients for spatial localization (which is the basis of MRI) and mechanisms for generating contrast in MRI images.
