Monitored Anesthesia Care

The term “monitored anesthesiaAnesthesia care” (MAC) does not describe a distinct type of anesthesia or a certain level of sedationSedation. Rather, it describes a specific service where an anesthesia care provider has been requested to participate in the care of a patient undergoing a diagnostic or a therapeutic procedure. In MAC, the anesthesiaAnesthesia care provider provides a number of services specific to patient care. These services include, but are not limited to, pre-procedure evaluationInterventional pulmonology, intra-procedure care, as well as post-procedure management.
