Predicting Speeding Behavior in Hau Giang Province: Applying the Theory of Planned Behavior

This research examined the direct effects of personality traits (altruism, anger, anxiety, sensation-seeking, normlessness) on speeding behavior and the indirect effects of these personality traits through intermediate factors in the theory of planned behavior (TPB). A questionnaire was used to collect information on latent factors, personality traits, and speeding behaviors from 326 high school students at Tay Do High School in Hau Giang. The partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method was employed to test both the direct and indirect effects of latent variables. Additionally, a permutation test was conducted to compare differences in path coefficients among gender groups, daily commuting distances, and vehicle usage times. The results showed that subjective norms had a positive impact on limiting speeding behavior in students through intention, and personality traits such as altruism and anger also appeared to reduce the likelihood of engaging in speeding. Furthermore, differences in the path coefficients among groups were observed in the study.
