The European Union’s Green Energy Transition and Its Impact on Vietnam

EU has embarked on an ambitious green energy transition driven by policies aimed at achieving climate neutrality. This transition encompasses various renewable energy technologies, including solar, biomass, hydrogen, offshore wind, and ocean energy. The EU’s Renewable Energy Directives and Hydrogen. The strategy provides a clear plan with specific goals to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and boost renewable energy generation. Solar energy has gained prominence, with plans to double capacity and mandate solar panels on new buildings. Biomass and biofuels play a vital role, supported by stringent sustainability criteria. Hydrogen, particularly green hydrogen, is central to the EU’s decarbonization efforts, with targets for production and use in various sectors, including transportation. Offshore wind energy is a major focus, aiming to significantly expand capacity, particularly through floating technology. The paper also highlights ocean energy development and its potential for growth. These EU initiatives have global implications, including potential impacts on countries like Vietnam, which may need to adapt their energy strategies to align with evolving international standards and technologies. Based on the method of data collection, policy analysis and international relations situation, this paper offers a comprehensive overview of the EU’s green energy policies and their potential implications for other regions, such as Vietnam, as they seek to address climate change and transition towards more sustainable energy sources.
