Ultrasonic Impact on Welding: Microstructural Insights and Mechanical Properties

This review article delves into the profound influence of ultrasonic waves on welding processes, with a particular focus on microstructural transformations and mechanical properties. Incorporating ultrasonic vibrations into diverse welding methods, including GMAW, TIG, and GTA, has been investigated, illuminating advancements in grain refinement and enhanced structural density. The role of ultrasonic treatment in mitigating microporosity and macroporosity defects in weld joints is analyzed. Furthermore, the article discusses the impact of ultrasonic vibration on microhardness, grain size, and tensile properties, revealing its potential for strengthening welded joints. Through a comprehensive examination of diverse welding scenarios and microstructural insights, this review elucidates the multifaceted relationship between ultrasonic waves and welding, offering valuable guidance for optimizing welding processes and achieving superior mechanical properties.
