摘要

Haloculture is the sustainable production of biological and non-biological products in saline environments. The saline environment, which refers to the ecosystems that are affected by high salinity in soil and water, offers various opportunities for bio-economic activity regarding haloculture. Moreover, pollutants sometimes affect these vulnerable ecosystems. Populus spp. plantations are one of the options for wood farming and biomass production in haloculture systems that could power regional bio-economy and remediate the ecosystem at the same time. In this chapter bioremediation and bio-economy in saline environment, haloculture perspective in bioremediation, haloculture and bio-economy respecting to Populus spp uses are explained. Moreover, two case studies about the propagation of some native Populus spp of Iran and the feasibility of using them in haloculture were defined.
