Climate Solutions: Reducing CO2 Emissions in the Building Sector
摘要
As climate change has significant consequences on our health and the environment, it is crucial to reduce the negative impact of our activities. For example, reducing the negative impact in the building sector is helpful because this sector uses 10–15% of total industrial energy and causes 5–8% of the human CO2 emissions. Emissions in this sector can be limited by reducing direct emissions, for example by replacing conventional by self-healing bioconcrete. We can also reduce indirect emissions by, for example, installing heat-absorbing walls that use solar energy for indoor heating. Also, we can reduce other indirect emissions, for instance by using natural materials such as bamboo instead of synthetic materials.
