How Climate Change Affects Ocean Biodiversity

  • Erlijn van Genuchten

摘要

Human activity, such as cutting trees and introducing animals to other parts of the world, affects biodiversity. Not only directly but also indirectly. Indirect effects are possible because everything is connected in ecosystems, and changes in one part of an ecosystem can cause changes in other parts. For example, our actions cause climate change which in turn heavily affects ocean biodiversity. This is because climate change causes our oceans to warm up, become more acidic, and contain less oxygen. This in turn impacts marine species in multiple ways, both on an individual and population level, including species’ survival and reproduction.
