Events Remembering Support Via Character Relationships’ Visualization of Novels
摘要
When people read a long novel, they usually find it difficult to finish it at once. Therefore, people have to repeat the “read-and-pause” step before finishing a story. This would cause a lot of confusion in the reader’s memory, especially when they are reading multiple novels at the same time. They tend to forget the events of novels by the time they resume reading, which would make them give up on continuing. This study proposes an interface to support remembering novels’ events by visualizing characters’ relationships. The interface shows three types of characters’ relationships: positive, negative, and neutral, and visualizes them for each episode. The relationships are displayed in chronological order on the interface. Experimental results showed that the proposed interface could support the participants in remembering the events of the novel.
