The Metaverse in Healthcare: The Emerging Future of the Next Generation

The term “metaverse” describes virtual worlds that give people realistic experiences. In recent years, the term “metaverse” has become more common due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rapid growth of technology. This chapter investigates how the metaverse affects several industries with special emphasis on healthcare field. An in-depth overview of the history, development, current applications, and anticipated future advancements of the metaverse has been presented. It demonstrates how virtual medical consultations, research, and medical training might improve healthcare through the metaverse. Additionally, it looks at the entertainment and educational possibilities of the metaverse, allowing users to transcend time and place for richer experiences. The metaverse does, however, also present unknown and rising ethical, legal, and technological issues. This study provides important insights into how the metaverse might influence our future and society through extensive literature research and trend analysis. The chapter concludes with suggestions for additional study and development of the metaverse technology.
