The Metaverse and Its Related Technologies in Telesurgery in Healthcare 5.0: A Case Study
摘要
There is an extensive development in the healthcare sector especially after the COVID 19 pandemic. The adaptation of technologies for various healthcare processes is rapidly increasing posing several challenges for the environmental deployment. Currently, inclusions of technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), body-aware sensors, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Blockchain have been implemented for optimizing the diagnostic process. There was also a plethora of research proposals for remote health monitoring and diagnosis. One such remote healthcare technology that gained much significance in the recent years is Telesurgery. This enables the doctors to perform or aid in the surgical process beyond the geographical boundaries. Mixed reality is another technology that aids in Telesurgey for achieving better accuracy and care while performing the surgery. The metaverse is an amalgamation of mixed reality, IoT, AI, and Blockchain that is being implemented in several domains for better standards of living. The metaverse in healthcare is especially used for Telesurgery and effective remote monitoring of patients by creating a virtual environment that is used for live interaction between the patients and the doctors. This chapter discusses the technologies and case studies involved for the metaverse in Telesurgery.
