Eyebient Displays: Ambient Displays by Gaze Guidance
摘要
Ambient displays convey information to users in an abstract manner without interfering with their activities; however, in conventional ambient displays, new abstract expressions corresponding to the information must be devised to convey additional types of information to users. In this study, we propose a novel concept of ambient displays called “Eyebient display,” which involves using a smartphone and everyday objects to provide information to the user by directing their attention to everyday objects that represent the information being conveyed. Gaze guidance is used to direct attention by displaying the agent’s eyes on a smartphone. Instead of creating separate displays for each piece of information, the user only needs to adjust the positional relationship between the smartphone and objects according to the information presentation rule. A preliminary user study demonstrates the creativity and effectiveness of the proposed method.
