Annette’s Story

Annette tells a story of navigating the education system from kindergarten to post-secondary throughout the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s and the stigma and challenges she faced and continues to face in her career within the education system. Her focus is on family and friends as strengths in her resilience to pursue despite real challenges of discrimination, bullying, and mental health. Her story is complemented by commentaries from a family physician with training in mental health and psychotherapy and an Early Childhood Educator (ECE).
