Under the sign of faber and through the power of the two chosen examples (Filarete and Christopher Alexander), architecture rediscovers a different relationship with the creative act, which aims to complement the way it is currently perceived within the profession. Artistic or artisanal interests, manual experience and direct involvement in the act of building, once the trademark of the architect, can be brought back into the contemporary professional discourse, recovering skills that have been neglected or lost over time (such as “ingegno”, that mental power doubled by technical imagination and manual skill), but which seem to hold great value for the meaning of the discipline.
