Formulation to Support Individuals Who Are Experiencing Emotional Distress and Associated Self-Harm
摘要
The following chapter begins with Betty’s story—an anonymised account provided with Betty’s consent. The chapter explores what a compassionate approach to listening, hearing and understanding the lived experience might look like, and it explores considerations for biopsychosocial formulation to support recovery. While Betty’s experience was mainly with services such as accident and emergency, acute in-patient psychiatric hospital settings and general practice (GP) services, this chapter explores how formulation might be approached in a different service such as the Home Treatment Team (HTT). It also considers the role of mental health nurses within the HTT, and as members of the multidisciplinary team.
