Gig Work: Challenges and Solutions from a Humanistic Perspective
摘要
Gig work has been studied from economic, social, or political points of view. However, there has been less discussion on humanistic perspectives. This chapter presents a framework that helps the reader to better understand the place of gig work in the history of labor and to relate this notion to our human condition, especially to our rational, free, and social dimension. In view of this, the article examines the meaning of independent and flexible work applied to gig workers, as these are two of its best-known features. In addition, it questions the gig economy’s potential to represent decent work and, therefore, to enhance our flourishing.
