Digital Mental Health Toward Cross-cultural Populations Worldwide
摘要
Refugees and immigrants in the European Union (EU) have mental health needs and present difficulties for mental health systems due to increasing numbers. These challenges call for language services, culturally skilled clinicians, staff training and adaptation, and tailored-care interventions. Effective communication between patients and providers is crucial for cross-cultural mental health care, as linguistic and other differences can impact care quality and satisfaction. The landscape of cultural competence has expanded with cultural humility and safety constructs. Factors such as geographical distances, culture, religion, and language can make it challenging for some patient populations to access mental health professionals as needed. Clinicians who embrace diversity and advocate for patients may explore digital mental health innovations to overcome obstacles, improve mental health care quality for ethnic minorities, and expand their own knowledge. Digital mental health applications provide new opportunities to lessen disparities in access to vital mental health care for vulnerable patient groups, such as refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers globally. National and international cross-cultural telepsychiatry services can help reduce stigma and enhance the quality of health care for these groups in their host countries. Equal access to culturally safe mental health services is a human right for all individuals, both domestic and immigrant, in contemporary communities worldwide.
