Coupled Peridynamics and Finite Element Method for Static and Transient Structural Analysis

This chapter presents the applications of coupled peridynamics and finite element method by considering an elastic plate with or without a crack under static and dynamic loading through uniform and nonuniform discretization. Also, this coupling approach is demonstrated by considering a plate with or without a crack subjected to initial thermal strain through uniform discretization. The specific steps in preprocessing, solution, and post-processing phases of the analysis are displayed through the Graphical User Interface (GUI) in a step-by-step fashion for each application. The peridynamics (PD) operations of the preprocessing, solution, and post-processing for each application are provided in the form of Ansys input files. The PD operations are executed through the macro files. The input files containing the encrypted macros files to generate the simulations are provided as supplementary material.
