How to Promote Your Learning

Getting the most out of your experiences during a pediatric rotation, just like other rotations in the clinical years, requires preparation, dedication, and investment by the learner. With a variety of differing specialties, clinical experiences and venues, complex social and environmental factors, not to mention patient populations and conditions, pediatric rotations can feel like a whirlwind that’s easy to get lost in. Through all these experiences, pediatric rotations offer each learner the opportunity to achieve success (both personal and academic) as well as develop professionally during their clinical experience in becoming life-long learners. This chapter will focus on mechanisms to help learners achieve success during their pediatric rotations by promoting self-learning/assessment mechanisms to foster skills that can be applied during clinical rotations and thereafter.
