Infectious Diseases: Common Inpatient Considerations

Superficial skin and soft tissue infections as well as deeper and/or critical tissue infections such as orbital and retropharyngeal infections are common diagnoses leading to inpatient management. Other common inpatient infectious diseases include croup, osteomyelitis, and recently SARS-CoV-2 infections. These diagnosis groups with their common presenting sign and symptoms as well as their practical management options are presented.
