Burns and Wounds

Wounds are commonly encountered in pediatrics in a variety of patient care settings including the primary care office, urgent care, and the emergency department. Pediatric wounds are often categorized as (1) injury-related wounds such as lacerations, avulsions, and punctures, (2) bites including human and nonhuman, and (3) burns. This chapter will review basic evaluation and medical management.
