The Role of Circular Economy in Mitigating Greenhouse Gas Emission
摘要
Circular economy and climatic changes are the concepts that have increased in the last decade and have become priorities for the U.E. (European Union). This chapter analyzes the role and potential of the circular economy to alleviate climatic changes, which can be explained by establishing conceptual and methodological connections, thus allowing interdisciplinary integration and an evaluation of circularity, decarburization, and sustainable development. Evaluation of material implications and the contribution of the improved performance of circularity on the mitigation paths that are compatible with the temperature objectives of the Paris Agreement are also found in the analysis. With the help of a proposed methodological framework, the potential of the activities of the circular economy is measured to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). The methodology allows the construction of a set of measures containing a set of strategies, which can help to mitigate the greenhouse gas emissions from a certain country.
