Smart City for Kids: Creating a Decent City for Children in Indonesia

A child-friendly city (CFC)Child-friendly city (CFC) is one of the requirements that must be present in a smart city, showing the best city environment for children’s lives. The city must show good indicators for child development. Indonesia has set five main standards, including the right to freedom, family environmentFamily environment, fulfilment of basic health and education. This chapter describes the implementation of CFCChild friendly city (CFC) in Indonesia based on these indicators. Quantitative data is obtained through secondary data. Qualitative data was obtained from interviews with children, families, and stakeholders. The research results show that the achievement of implementing a CFCChild friendly city (CFC) in 2022 shows fluctuations in values. This indicates the need for more serious efforts by the government in formulating policies and developing various child-centered programs and strategies. Children are essential in a smart city because they represent a country’s future civilization. The novelty of this book chapter is that it includes indicators of CFCChild friendly city (CFC) in smart cities.
