Orbital-Meningeal Band Anatomy and Application for Exposure of Proximal Carotid Artery
摘要
Surgical access to the lesions harboring into para clinoid, parasellar, and cavernous sinus regions continues to be a significant challenge. Extradural approaches have proven to be useful techniques in the neurosurgical armamentarium to treat those lesions. The knowledge of the orbital-meningeal band (OMB) anatomy and the technical nuances to perform a proper and safe dissection are paramount for gaining adequate surgical exposure and working space. The step-by-step anatomical details coupled with illustrative cases provided in this chapter will help the reader to familiarize with this anatomical region and understand the potentiality of this technique.
