Endoscopic Resection of Colloid Cysts

Colloid cysts may cause obstructive bilateral hydrocephalus which can be life-threatening. Microsurgical colloid cyst resection has been the therapy of choice for many years. With improvement of endoscopic equipment and resolution of endoscopic video cameras, the success rate of endoscopic colloid cyst resection has been improved dramatically. Most colloid cysts can be removed totally using endoscopic tchniques. This chapter shows the relevant anatomy and surgical technique for endoscopic resection of colloid cysts.
