The STEP Project
摘要
The STEP—Stereotype and Prejudice. For a Cultural Change in Gender Representation in the Judiciary, Law Enforcement and Media Discourse—Project is one of a series of projects aimed at preventing and combating violence against women, also in implementation of the Istanbul Convention. The project aimed at investigating the stereotypes and prejudices that affect women victims of violence in the judicial, law enforcement, and journalistic fields. Our research analysed 16.715 newspaper articles and 283 court judgments focusing on the “framing of the situation” proposed by the press and by the judicial field, because it is in these contexts that the stereotypes and prejudices underlying this type of violence lurk and affect the way public opinion and decision makers deal with it.
