Acceptance of Political-Occult Rumors at Face Value

Political-occult rumors can influence the public opinion about political actors, but the Ghanaian public expresses a variety of attitudes to such rumors. Some of them readily accept the rumors as true at face value based on the prevalent notion that the occult is everywhere, everyone uses it irrespective of their religious affiliation, and politicians are no exception. This chapter will demonstrate what accounts for the authority of truth of rumors alleging political use of the occult that makes people accept them readily.
