A Boolean algebra is a paradigmatic example of a structure that exhibits a particular kind of duality. Such an algebra can be defined as a set of elements with two binary operations ∪ and ∩, a unary operation ′, and two designated elements 0 and 1, such that the set is closed under these operations and the following equalities hold (Goodstein, 1963, p. 21)
