Introduction

This introduction outlines the purposes and scope of the book. The book aims to demonstrate the distinctive features of Chinese language learning and teaching in Canada and to present the Canadian approach to teaching and researching Chinese language. This approach, labeled here the “Canadian school of Chinese education,” remains largely unfamiliar to the global academic community.
