Upper Extremity Neuroma Cases

Symptomatic neuromas in the upper extremity (UE) can develop from a variety of injuries, including partial or complete nerve lacerations, crush injury, avulsion, iatrogenic injury, or chronic compression. Presentation may vary depending on location, severity, and time from injury. Multiple reconstructive techniques have been described to improve pain and functional outcomes in this patient population; however, there is no consensus on the optimal algorithm for surgical management of UE neuromas. While there is no prototypical UE neuroma patient, surgeons may benefit from an atlas of individual cases and their respective interventions. Here, we present multiple approaches to a variety of symptomatic UE neuromas with details including pathogenesis, physical examination findings, imaging and diagnostic studies, preoperative planning, surgical techniques, and outcomes.
