Myth: Renewable Energy Is Too Disruptive to Be Feasible?

  • Hassan Qudrat-Ullah

摘要

Renewable energy is a key solution for addressing the global challenges of climate change, energy security, and sustainable development. However, its adoption and utilization remain limited and uneven across the world, partly due to the myth that renewable energy is too disruptive and unrealistic to replace fossil fuels and nuclear power. This chapter aims to debunk this myth by examining the various barriers and challenges hindering the widespread adoption of renewable energy, while also proposing strategies and solutions to overcome these obstacles. Additionally, the chapter will shed light on the myriad benefits and opportunities associated with renewable energy, spanning environmental, economic, social, and security dimensions. The chapter will demonstrate that renewable energy is not a threat, but an opportunity for the energy system and society to become more resilient, flexible, and sustainable in the face of the global challenges of the twenty-first century. Renewable energy is not a radical or unrealistic option, but a feasible and desirable one for a safe and prosperous future.
