Conclusion and Personal Remarks About Sustainable Energy

This chapter provides a summary and a discussion of the main findings and implications of this book project, which aimed to explore the myths and realities of sustainable energy. Sustainable energy is a key concept and practice for addressing the global challenges of climate change, energy security, and social justice, by using energy sources and technologies that are inexhaustible, environmentally friendly, and socially equitable. However, there are many myths and misconceptions about sustainable energy that hinder its understanding and adoption, such as its feasibility, affordability, reliability, and desirability. Therefore, this book project sought to debunk some of the common myths and highlight some of the important realities of sustainable energy, using a mixed-methods approach that combined literature review, case studies, interviews, surveys, and data analysis. The chapter also offers some closing thoughts on the prospects and challenges of sustainable energy, and the role of different actors and stakeholders in facilitating and accelerating the transition to a low-carbon society. Furthermore, the chapter shares some personal remarks on the motivation and experience of writing this book, and the limitations and directions for further research.
