The Design of the New Health Hub Padova East San Lazzaro NOP, a Multidisciplinary Approach to Time and Cost Management
摘要
The paper focuses on the project management and cost monitoring procedures adopted during the design consultancy services for the new hospital complex of East Padua (NOP) in Italy. This project is a major healthcare initiative involving intricate coordination between over 100 specialists, mirrored by a well-organised client. The project faces multiple challenges, including a compressed schedule, evolving client requirements and fluctuating market dynamics. The project integrates Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology for real-time cost assessment, recognising the importance of effective cost control and enabling proactive identification of potential budget variances. By implementing strategic cost recovery measures, the project successfully achieves savings of over 30% of the original budget. This study highlights the indispensable role of vigilant project management and robust cost monitoring in steering large-scale infrastructure projects towards sustainable and successful development, and provides valuable insights for similar initiatives in the healthcare infrastructure sector.
