Baro and the Founding of the OLF

Centering on the role Baro Tumsa played in forming the Oromo Liberation Front, the chapter systematically explains how he created and mobilized secret study cells, political networks, and preexisting institutions to form and build the OLF in the 1970s. As a pioneering organic intellectual, Baro coordinated and led the Oromo national movement politically, ideologically, and strategically with his comrades by critically understanding Oromo culture, history, and global national and social movements and locating the Oromo struggle in regional and international contexts.
