Baro and Gudina Tumsa: From Early Life to Adulthood

The chapter explains how Baro Tumsa’s family and the Oromo culture and society shaped Baro’s attitudes and behavior toward leadership and the role of his older brother, the Reverend Gudina Tumsa, in raising, educating, and mentoring him after their parents died. Also, an essential point identified and discussed is the types of literature Baro read in high school and college and how what he read helped him develop his knowledge and thinking concerning the struggle of the Oromo people.
