Introduction

This introductory chapter explains why and how Baro Tumsa and his comrades formed the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) in the 1970s and the central role that Baro played in creating the organization that still engages in the Oromo national struggle for liberation, sovereignty, and egalitarian democracy.
