The Construction of Residential Exclusion in Madrid and Its Metropolitan Area
摘要
Compared to other methodologies for measuring inequality in cities, urban vulnerability has two advantages: it allows its definition to be approached from multiple dimensions, such as housing. In addition, it anticipates the risks of certain urban areas suffering processes of segregation and exclusion. Taking the city of Madrid as a case study and the catalogue of vulnerable neighbourhoods as a reference, the article explains how the real estate market socially and economically orders the city, and how and where important pockets of vulnerability associated with the difficulty of access to housing have been forming.
