Education of the Population
摘要
Even the best technical skills and the most well-equipped hospital will not reach his aim when the patients do not seek for help. The rate of reported aneurysm ruptures in central Africa is much lower than expected. We suspect that patients are not seeking for help, or primary care physicians are not referring patients with SAH to neurosurgery. Under this suspicion, a second aim of the fellowship program was patient education. Through TV and newspapers, we informed the population about the symptoms of SAH and about the treatment availability in Cameroon. After establishing a fellowship and surgical training, we also educated the population in order to seek help in the right location.
