Introduction

This book brings together a collection of papers on current practices and potential innovations in land management, governance and land rights in the Middle East Region with case studies from Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq and Iran. In doing so the contributors have endeavored to identify the wider impacts towards sustainable urban transitions. As such, the remit of the book goes beyond specific focus on land and includes contributions on broader socio-economic institutional frameworks that structure land and housing markets and urban transitions.
