This chapter introduces conventional and permutation methods for the analysis of goodness of fit. The chapter provides example analyses illustrating computation of permutation methods for goodness-of-fit tests and analysis of contingency tables comprised of two categorical variables. Also included in the chapter are permutation versions of Pearson chi-squared goodness-of-fit test, Pearson’s chi-squared test of independence, Cramér’s \(V^{2}\) measure of nominal association, and Mielke and Berry’s exact probability test.

摘要

This chapter introduces conventional and permutation methods for the analysis of goodness of fit. The chapter provides example analyses illustrating computation of permutation methods for goodness-of-fit tests and analysis of contingency tables comprised of two categorical variables. Also included in the chapter are permutation versions of Pearson chi-squared goodness-of-fit test, Pearson’s chi-squared test of independence, Cramér’s \(V^{2}\) measure of nominal association, and Mielke and Berry’s exact probability test.
