Wallachia in the Early-Modern Period and the Transformations in the Eighteenth Century

This chapter provides a historical introduction to my topic and is organized into three sections. The first surveys the socioeconomic dynamic and the administrative organization of Wallachia from its establishment as a distinct state in the fourteenth century to the beginning of the eighteenth century. The second part discusses economic and societal transformations in the eighteenth century.
